Cuisine is important. Price is important. Atmosphere is important. But food safety excellence is absolutely critical and, until now, there was no universal way to know the food safety history of a restaurant. DiningGrades.com has taken away that mystery.

Thousands of window decals have been sent to independent restaurants in eleven major cities in the USA: Chicago, Dallas, Houston, LA, Las Vegas, Miami, Minneapolis/St. Paul, NYC, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington DC. Look for our decal in these great cities! Watch for more to come.

Our grading system is unique.

  • Our grade is universally understandable and not just a numerical score.
  • Our grade is based upon a 36-month history.
  • Our grade is standardized across the USA, Canada and the UK.

Our window decals are given to independent restaurants and provided through funding from DiningSafetyAlliance.org and its Sponsors. The Decal cannot be purchased. The Decal must be earned. It must be earned and renewed annually. A restaurant can earn an A+ Window Decal by achieving a 36-month historical health department food inspection of an A.

Health departments in many cities require the posting of the last inspection. We applaud this requirement and model from it. You might see that posting in several of the above cities. This will continue to be valuable information. Unfortunately, it is not universally, conspicuously posted, represents a very limited moment in time and definitely is not nationally standardized.

Dr. Stueven founded Dining Grades and the Dining Safety Alliance to improve food safety by increasing awareness of food borne illness and the formation of partnerships within the food industry. He is a consultant to the Wisconsin Retail Food Establishment Grading Work Group; a Co-investigator in a CDC funded “Evaluation of Health Department Restaurant Inspection Programs” project. He has presented at several National, State and Regional conferences on restaurant grading and food safety. He is an accomplished leader, medical researcher, a champion of process improvement, author, and national and international speaker.
